So many different sayings and tips on forums and blogs. Sometimes I heard: You have to lover your feed dogs to make your quilt glide more easely under the sewing machine, than push the pedal real fast. Others say: You don't need to drop down the feed dogs, just move your piece nice and easy and find your own rithm. I know that practice is the most important untill You feel comfortable. You need time. There is one thing everyone is talking about, to put on rubber gloves. There are plenty possibilities and it helps to move the quilt around without a lot of pressure. I just read an article in "In Stiches" they showed all the different grips that are availible some only for fingertips and tumbs. They slide easy on and off, that is good if You need to change tread. By the way In Stitches has en E-Mag, easy to download.

Thank You Robbie, I see your sister visited my blog. Greetings
VerwijderenHi Coby and thanks Robbie. I agree with what you said about free motion. I do lower my feed dogs. The best advice I have received is to set the machine fast and move the fabric fast. It establishes a nice rhythm for me. I also agree that practice is most important to find what works best for each individual.
