Wallhanging Route 66

It took a long time to finish this Wallhanging. I started right after I finished Viva Mexico.

I started at the beginning of March, but because of my parkinson handicap I can only work on the sewing machine when I feel real good. Also the writing on my blog gets more difficult for me. It makes me feel terrible sometimes, But hey that is what my life is. Got to live with that. So You can inmagine that I am very proud that I finnished this piece. The Route 66 or "my way" as I also like to name it means a lot to us. As my daughter lives in the US we drove many times on that road to bring us to her.

The mesurements are 110 x 140 cm It has a sleeve at the top what makes it easy to hang on a wall.

Historic Route 66

 

Route 66 very well known special by BIKERS they love this long route from the nord east Cicago to the far West Los Angeles. The route is about 4000 km. long and passes the states of: Cicago, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. This legendair Hyway is the best way to travel and meet many different people with their own culture. In Chicago the Bues found his way. And in Oklahoma the Blue Grass music. In Missisipi st.Louis after many factories had to close, now the culture from the HIP HOP arise in the many clubs around. From 1926 till the end of 1960 this route was also called Mother of the Roads.
Since 1984 the route was not so important anymore and only a few small cities and shops along the route survived. On the website You can find a lot of picures in information. We traveled the route 66 from Flagstaff till Los Angeles through the Mojave Desert. With the famous Joshua Trees which look like large cactuses.

You can drive for hours without seeing any other car so You feel like you are all alone on the road.
Real great. The best time to travel throug the desert is in spring or autumn otherwise it can be terrible hot and don't drive without gasoline and water. One more: keep your limit when You drive the Route, because even if You see nobody, Police is around the corner.

Mojave Preserve und Joshua Tree

Wir sind wieder auf Tour von Las Vegas durch die Mojave Preserve, dann durch Joshua Tree nach Palm Springs. Ein Teil davon ist noch die berühmte Route 66

Es beibt schön, wie oft wir das auch schon gefahren haben. Ich liebe diese Route , es sieht immer wieder anders aus click hier

Der Kelso Depot ein sehr wichtiges Gebäude und lange zeit war nichts mehr davon zu sehen, Gott sei dank haben sie es wieder renuïert und es wird jedes Jahr besser. Diesmal konnten wir sogar ein Snack essen und die Bedienung war sehr nett. Das Mädchen hatt eine Holländische Oma und war sehr neugierig um über Holland etwas zu erfahren

                                              

Es war ein sehr wichtiger Bahnhof und in Kelso war mal ein Gefängnis, denn es ist so weit bis zum nächsten Stadt das niemand von dort flüchten konnte. Jetzt wohnen noch 28 Leute dort!!!!

Nach dem man die Mojave Preserve hat durchgefahren kommt mann durch Joshua Tree ein Platz sehr bekannt um  seine Bäume, ein art Riesen Cactus.

Die Strassen hier waren vor 15 Jahren hauptsächlich aus Sand, aber jetzt ist alles asfaltiert, mal gut mal schlecht.
