Bonnefanten museum

OK this is even more easier then I thought  I can directly talk to make a blog  because writing is not possible at this moment my hands were shaking too much because of my Parkinson disease . That’s why I didn’t post for long time . So I hope this works for me . In September we had a social event with my friends from KC 61 and we went together to the Bonnefanten  museums in Maastricht. I took a train and then a taxi to the museum, a great place with many large rooms and great artists.
We were with 10 people and spent there three hours, in every room was a movie about the artist and his work. Than we had a coffee together and off we went home . Even though I’m speaking I’m shaking like hell that’s really not funny but what can I do I have to MoveOn maybe I  get used to it although I cannot believe that, it makes me feel sad . Still I want to have a look if I can post some pictures of that very nice day.

This is the top of the museum. People can lay down on cushions and listen to a deep sound.

This room is made like a sewing area, but all made out of wood. even kapels for the sewing machine

So I did it. Hope You like it . See You back next time when I feel like it. COBY

Wallhanging Route 66

It took a long time to finish this Wallhanging. I started right after I finished Viva Mexico.
I started at the beginning of March, but because of my parkinson handicap I can only work on the sewing machine when I feel real good. Also the writing on my blog gets more difficult for me. It makes me feel terrible sometimes, But hey that is what my life is. Got to live with that. So You can inmagine that I am very proud that I finnished this piece. The Route 66 or "my way" as I also like to name it means a lot to us. As my daughter lives in the US we drove many times on that road to bring us to her.

The mesurements are 110 x 140 cm It has a sleeve at the top what makes it easy to hang on a wall.

WALLHANGING VIVA MEXICO

We had a few difficult month (my hubby became real ill and needed a difficult surgery) and so I did not feel like writing. But now it is much better and so here again a new blogpost.
Despite all the difficulties I kept on going hand sewing on my large wallhanging. It has a lot of colour and the size is 2 meter wide by 2.40 long. I did not find a good place at my own gallery so I had to wait untill last month March where I had an exhibition with my friends from KC61
at a very nice place, called Terpekerkje Urmond
And here it is!!
I left it as three long pannels so it is possible to hang them apart with as much space in between as needed and ofcourse also leave it as one large piece, which I think is cool.

Stitch by stitch

Yes that is what I do stitch bij stitch working on a very large Wallhanging.  For me,this is almost like meditation. Brain on zero! Just that small movement of my hands, up and down it goes. But to listen to soft clasical music is a must too. Than I feel great. And after many many hours (untill now 140 hours) I will have a large piece from 200x240 cm!
Here is a small glance

While I am working, our gallery is open and the people who come in are very curious of what I am making.

I still do not know how to finish it: in one large piece or maybe in three narrow pieces I have many options. We will see. I'm not in a hurry. At first I thought of hanging out in the next exhibition that I have late October,  but I'm convinced that the panels are not long enough. And I do not want them hanging on the floor so people could stand on it.

What to do

Time for a blog challenge again, it seems to work so why not start this month.
Not sure if I should write in Dutch or English. I come across small responses to find out what's best. So the following is in Dutch.
I have a little pain. About a week ago, I hurt my back by doing nothing really, and working on a very large wall hanging makes it very disturbing. I want to finish it for an exhibition at the townhall of Echt-Susteren, a small village in the south of the Netherlands at the end of October.

Usually I work 3 to 5 hours a day. It is all Handmade, stitch through the stitch. My work space is a big disorder, but as long as my beloved man does not complain, it's also good for me.
Tomorrow I have to go to Valkenburg, together with KC61 an artist community we had a 3 month long exhibition there in the Museum "Land van Valkenburg" and tomorrow it is time to bring our art back home again.

Small Art Garden

July 29th again.
That's how fast the time goes by. I wanted to write a few blogs this month and I did. Not as much as I would have had but better than not at all. So today I write something about our little garden. We are so lucky to have a place to go outside and enjoy flowers, scrubs and even a pond with some goldfish. But above all we love art and curiosities or even 'KITSCH' on the old wall around the garden. When we bought this house about 30 years ago, we thought we would close the garden so we had a bigger store. But fortunately we did not.

Sometimes we go outside for dinner. Many times when people come to our gallery, they walk straight on to the garden and enjoy all the things that can be seen. Here are some pictures and I hope you like them.

Last week arts

On sunday we had some friends to visit us. That's always nice, because we can show some of our art we've been working on last week. Dieter made another watercolor of some Lilies , on heavy watercolor paper.

I was working on digital drawing on our new Ipad. I bought this ipad specifically for my hubby for Father's Day, but I'm more pleased with it. I've downloaded Pro create and love it. I use to work with Photoshop elements, but for drawing Pro create is better for me. Here some pictures:  the first one a landscape

Opening Exhibition at the "Museum Land van Valkenburg."

Last Sunday we had the opening from the Exhibition " Eder zien eige stiel"in Valkenburg. This time I was better prepared to find a parking place. So I only had to walk 5 minutes to the museum. It was a beautiful day. I was the first from 7 people from KC61 (kunst corridor 61) and that was good, my textile art had found a very good place and everything looked  nice. The exhibition is on the top floor from the museum, it is an old building but has a lot of charme. The windows were open and I was able to make a few pictures. Two ladies from the museum came down to put glasses and drinks.

my textile art. Winter and Autumn
plus some ceramics from Lei Hannen.
About 50 people arrived and at 3 o'clock pm  Jos Solberg opened and then gave me the floor so I could propose all my friends and tell about their work.

Little sketchbook

Today I signed up for the ultimate blog challenge. I've done that before and I think it's right for me.
Like some blogs ago to be accurate on January 16th, I wrote about my sketchbook. I've pretty well maintained and I'm glad, because by that smal drawings, often come on good ideas. Like my last big textile artwork, but I'll write more about it next week, as the opening has been in the museum in Valkenburg. But just because I like it here a few pictures from that little sketchbook which incidentally is almost full.

An other painting

The way to Valkenburg was okay just to find the museum in the middle of this tourist city where you can not park anywhere was really awful. But good that Dieter went with me. The space that KC61 has is at the top of the building and when I brought my work upstairs, Dieter had to bring the car to a parking lot a bit outside the center. All in all, I forgot to take pictures, so it will be Sunday when the exhibition is opened. After I finished and we picked up the car, Dieter did not know where he dropped the car. Only that it was near a castle, but yes there are more castles in Valkenburg. It took us about an hour before we found him. I had given up soon.Haha !! Because I have not taken pictures, here is another picture of an acryl artwork from Dieter which he  painted last month, in respons to our short vacation in Spain with our daughter. So also some pictures of the Costa Brava. A place where we love to be.

New art from Dieter Lange

We made many visits to the hospital in Venlo last month due to my husband's radiation. That was not easy. But I'm so proud of him that, when he was home again, he could go on with smaller and bigger paintings. Even in the hospital we had always made small sketches in an agenda.
Yesterday he painted a watercolor with beautiful soft colors for the first time.
In addition, I have today packed some of my textile artwork that I have to bring to the museum
"Land van Valkenburg" tomorrow, which will be there until September 30, 2017. Tomorrow I hope to take some photos during the setup of the exhibition.

I promised myself

Yes, I did, I want to write in July at least every second day of this month. There are a few important things coming soon and many important days of our lives have happened in recent months.

I start with something I have done today. It was a rainy day, so our normal golf morning to play 9 holes was not possible. That's why I decided to be creative and take a lampshade that needed to be decorated. So I searched my little pieces of fabric in turquoise and blue cut out some pieces and started sewing. But oh, the needle did not want to easily come through the lampshade and it took more than an hour to give up. Normal that does not happen to me I'm always going on, but I knew that this would not be an improvement. So I removed all the pieces. Look for paper from a magazine and paste it. Not done yet. But here is the picture of the lampshade in progress.

Improving the gallery

In October we had an exhibition in our gallery Mixed media art by Monique Humblet. Nice work and nice colors. The opening was great and we had a lot of people who came to visit.

It's been awhile since I again write a blog, but it's not easy to do if you do not get enough response, so I'm not sure what to write about. Should it more personal, less writing, more pictures, who knows ???

The gallery will be enhanced if we invest in a nicer area, a small kitchen, a cozy sitting area. As the matter of fact, that's precisely what is happening right now, so I'm very excited.

Normally I do not have a New Year promises of what to do or not to do for the next year, but I started a small scetchbook Dieter my husband and I are making every day a small drawing or painting. It's so nice and cozy to sit together and paint. I love that. Here are some pictures.

Bevrijdingsfestival May 5 2016

Dieter My husband and I had a lot to do in the last few weeks. We prepared our Gallery for a new exhibition about Freedom. Together with our friends KC61 we filled the place with beautiful art.

We were mentioned on Facebook by the organization of the festival, so we had a lot of people who came to us. We have many poems hanging on the wall too.
Ben Ali Libi
Op een lijst van artiesten in de oorlog vermoord
staat een naam, waarvan ik nog nooit had gehoord
dus keek ik er met verwondering naar
Ben Ali Libi: goochelaar
